The old Sanctuary burned to
the ground with nothing saved except the
Steeple Bell and the front Plaque. In a news
article, our Pastor said "When a building
burns it doesn't mean the church is
destroyed." |

It was decided to buy the
Lewis property when it became available for
sale. That house was eventually turned into
our regular parsonage and the old parsonage
was rented. |

The church decided to deed
the 'ball diamond' property to the Hunton
Civic and Recreation Association. |

1968 |
The church was deeded the
'ball diamond' property by the Hunton Youth
Recreation Association. |

1966, May 15 |
Fiftieth Anniversary
celebration was held. |

1962, October |
Covered dish supper on the
first Wednesday evening of each month was
made a regular social activity. |

Ground breaking ceremony for

The church roll reached 300. |

An organ was bought and a

serve on the Board of Deacons, with equal

The parsonage building was
completed and ready for Hunton's first full
time pastor. |

First Vacation Bible School
was held at the church. |

Deed to church property was
transferred to the church trustees. The
name of the church was changed from Taylors
to Hunton. |

The church signed a contract
in order to get an electric line. |

The church was organized with
25 charter members. |

We bought the adjacent land
from Dr. J. H. Winfrey. |

The building of then Taylors
Baptist Church was completed. The total
cost of the building was approximately
$1,500. |
