Ministry Teams
Team Up
With God in Ministry.
One of the ways
that Hunton Baptist Church takes care of their flock is
through various ministry teams. These ministry team offer
an opportunity for our members to get involved with the
pastoral care of the church and become the hands and feet of
Christ by minister to church members and the community in
very tangible ways. The team ministry program is an
extension of the family ministry plan implemented by the
deacons of the church. Perhaps you're not as involved in
the life and ministry of the church as you would like to be.
Maybe you have not been formally asked to serve on a
committee, teach a class or serve in another way. Well,
consider this your invitation to begin putting your
God-given talents and abilities to use!
Our ministry teams are
described below. Each of these teams carries out a
specific ministry. We are encouraging everyone to become
involved in a ministry team. Please prayerfully review the
descriptions of the Ministry Teams and ask God to guide you
to a specific place of service that you feel passionate
about and fits your personality and talents.
Don't miss this great
opportunity to discover the joy of serving!
See the bulletin board in
the hallway that leads from the sanctuary to the fellowship
to sign up for your desired team. If you would like more
information about a specific team or would like to speak
with someone about joining, contact the church office at
(804) 266-0100 or email at
office@huntonbc.org.
Our church secretary can connect your with the team leader
for follow-up.

Do you remember the day of your baptism
and what it meant to you? Would you like to have a role in
making someone else's baptism a day to remember? Do you
enjoy helping others behind the scenes? Maybe you should
consider serving on the Baptism Ministry Team.
Do you remember a time when
you lost someone close to you? Do you remember how it made
you feel when caring people came to support, encourage and
be there with you through your time of grief? The
Bereavement Team is all about helping folks through times of
loss. If you would like to help others through their time of
grief, this ministry team is for you!
Great things are happening
all around us! Wouldn't you like to be a team member with an
inquisitive mind listening for all the special happenings in
our church family? If you have an encouraging nature, you
will want to join the Celebration Ministry team and help us
celebrate these special events in a variety of ways.
The Lord's Supper is served
on the first Sunday of the month. We are able to do this
because someone prepares the communion table for us. If you
can give a few minutes of your time to help, come be a part
of the Communion Preparation Ministry Team. You will be
blessed as you use your spiritual gifts to serve our Lord
and His Church!
Have you ever been the
recipient of a meal prepared for you and your family in a
time of need? Many have experienced personal injuries,
illness and loss of loved ones. Members of this team will
strive to serve our church family by preparing and
delivering meals to these individuals. Prayerfully consider
becoming part of this ministry so we may better serve our
church family.
When a loved one dies, the
family is sometimes at a loss of what to do and where to
gather. This team invites the family to gather in the
church fellowship hall for their luncheon following the
funeral. Team members keep a record of food donations for
the family. The team also sees that the tables and chairs
are set up. The team then serves and cleans up following
the gathering.
Several of our members are
homebound. They get out only for doctor/dentist visits. They
would appreciate seeing a friendly face from their church.
Join this ministry team and make a difference in the life of
a homebound member. Or, think of this... you're in a
nursing home longing to see your family or friends.
Wouldn't it make your day to have a visit from someone in
your church family? You can give that pleasure to someone
who is longing for contact by joining the Nursing Home
Visitation Team.
Have you or your loved ones
ever been in the hospital? The day and nights can be long if
you only see doctors and nurses. Would you like to bring a
bright spot to what could be one of those long days? Join
the hospital visitation team ministry and insure those in
the hospital are not forgotten.
Would you like to make a
difference when a new church member becomes acquainted with
our church? Think about it . . .a new member may need
directions to a Sunday School class or information on our
Sunday dinners, youth program, children's programs, etc.
Come, make this new member feel welcomed at our church. Show
your Christian love by making someone feel appreciated.
The Odd Job Ministry is to
assist members (predominately senior adults) with tasks
around their homes. These odd jobs could be anything from
cleaning gutters, going to the dump, or just lending a
helpful hand to a friend. Remember a time when you wondered
how you were going to accomplish a task and how joyful you
were when someone offered to help you? This Ministry Team
could use your talent to help others. If this sounds
inviting, please prayerfully consider becoming a part of
this very special ministry.
This Team is all about
sharing our faith with others and bringing the good news of
salvation to everyone. Our community is growing rapidly and
opportunities for outreach have never been greater! Does it
tug at your "heartstrings" for others to know the joy of
eternal life through Christ? Do you sometimes feel awkward
expressing these feelings? Think back - what motivated you
to accept Christ? As the Holy Spirit moved in you then, the
Spirit can work in you now as you reach out to others. An
Outreach Ministry is an opportunity to join with others in
formulating ideas for reaching those who don't know Christ.
Currently, the Outreach team assists with advertising
special programs and basic information about the church.
This team participates in special events, such as Hunton Day
and Glen Allen Day. The Outreach ministry team also hosts
Hunton's annual "Trunk or Treat." Together we can make
things happen! Could this be your chance to do what your
heart is calling you to do? Please consider joining this
ministry of sharing the wonderful Gift of God's love and
salvation with others.
Do you love to pray? Do you
believe that a praying church is a victorious church? If so
make plans to be a part of this vital ministry team. Prayer
is partnering with God to accomplish his perfect will in the
earth.
Remember Isaiah tells us that
God's house is to be a house of prayer for all people. Team
members are encouraged to attend our weekly Wednesday night
prayer meetings at 7:00 p.m. for an opportunity to join
hands together with other church members in prayer.
There is a lady down the street from you
who would like to go to the Sunday Fellowship Supper and
evening classes at HBC. She doesn't drive at night. An
elderly couple has had to give up driving due to ill health.
We have a van for transporting people like these. Get
involved in our transportation ministry and bring in those
who are yearning to hear God's Word and to be part of our
fellowship. If you know of needs within our church body for
transportation to worship services or other programs, please
let the team leader know. |
