Want to get involved with
Missions at
Hunton Baptist Church?
We have many seasonal and ongoing projects at Hunton Baptist Church
so that you can get involved in God's mission. It can be as simple
as donating a used ink cartridge or as involved as swinging a hammer.
Whatever your skill and ability, God can use you! |

(Hunton assists with Habitat for Humanity in 2008) |
Ongoing Item Collection Projects: Bring the following items to the
missions table in the hallway of the fellowship hall. These items are
collected all year long.
- Shawls - Most are handmade. Given to local nursing homes.
- Blankets
- Used Eyeglasses - refurbished and given to the needy.
- Cell Phones - give to battered women's shelter. Did you know
that cell phone without service will still work for dialing 9-1-1?
- Ink Cartridges
- Hunton's Food Pantry (Check with Benevolence for inventory levels
before donating)
Here are a few deadlines for projects that we support in the Fall:
| September |
Raceway Ministry:
Do you like to bake cookies? Each year the Richmond Raceway
Ministry collects cookies from local churches to give out as reminders
of Christ's hospitality at the Richmond International Raceway. To
participate, please put 2-3 cookies (depending on the size) in
individual bags and bring them to church by September 6th. We will
put labels on them that represent Hunton Baptist Church. Please
see Joan Lee for more information on this project.
State Fair Mission Opportunity: The
Dover Baptist Association put together "Hospitality Bags" for the State
Fair employees. For this project, they need toiletry items such as
toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, shampoo, conditioner, hand aids, lip
balm, soap, and tissues. Items should be placed in gallon sized
Ziploc bags. Please place these items on the missions collection
table or give them to Terry Wood by September 13th. |

Operation
Christmas Child: Start working on making Shoe Boxes for
Operation Christmas Child. We have set a church-wide goal
collecting 100 boxes. The deadline for collection is Sunday,
November 15th. For more information about where these boxes are
delivered and what items are appropriate, visit

Coats for Kids:
Sponsored by Puritans Cleaners, we are collecting coats for
kids. Because many older children wear adult sizes, adult coats
and jackets are permitted as well. Bring the coats to church no
later than November 29th. |

Sponsoring
Christmas Families at Local Schools: Sunday School
classes at Hunton Baptist Church sponsor families from local schools who
are in need for Christmas. Please discuss this project with your
Sunday School class. If any other group within the church would
like to participate by sponsoring a family, please contact Terry Wood or
Joan Lee. |
